In February, we went back to Estación de Alta Montaña de Tavascan-La Pleta del Prat, in the Catalonian Pyrenees, to test on the snow the wide variety of splitboards available in the market from this Fall 2017 season. 4 riders, 4 days, 24 splitboards.

Our love affair with Tavascan high mountain resort is not a random one. This area definitely offers some of the best terrain in the Pyrenees to get out and look for splitboarding action. The car accessed mountain refuge at the foot of a couple of lifts, opens the door to endless splitboard tours. We’d like to thank once more the staff from Pleta del Prat, and the staff from Estación de Alta Montaña de Tavascan for their warm welcome and their help to make this test possible.

After a promising start of the winter season in the Pyrenees, followed by a dry period in January, we didn’t expect to find the mountain at its best, but thanks to its location and orientation, Tavascan always stashes good snow in some areas. Due to the lack of humidity, the snow conditions remained perfect on the north faces, and we made the most of that gift riding from dawn to dusk on our favorite terrain.

When it comes to the boards in this year’s test, there wasn’t anything remarkably innovating but we did ride a great variety of boards, some of which were surprisingly good, allowing us to enjoy this test experience to the max.

Last but not least, we thank the brands: Contour skins, Amplid, Borealis, Cold Smoke, Jones, K2, Oz, Plum, Rome, Stone, Salomon, Stompede, Venture y Weston.
