General overview:

The new Nitro splitboard binding was designed and engineered together with the most capable splitboarding partners at Spark R&D. The Colab combines the simplicity and durability of Sparks TeslaT1 baseplate design with Nitros quality of cable parts, comfort and reliability of straps and buckles. The Vertical splitboard binding is equipped with the Nitro Recline Highback, First Track ankle straps, Vibram© EcoStep Übergrip toe straps and reinforced cables in the ratchet ladders. Effortless on the way up, comfortable and supportive on the way down. Fresh tracks are waiting!

Uphill:

The Tesla T1 was born to spend uncountable days skinning. Its lightweight construction, along with the Recline highback, makes it a very good binding on the uphill. 9 out of 10.

Riding:

The First Track ankle strap, along with the Übergrip toe strap with Vibram EcoStep rubber, makes it very comfortable when riding, making you forget that you’re using a splitboard binding instead of your snowboard bindings. The edge-to-edge transmission is easy and smooth and responsive enough. Furthermore, there’s no faster and more simple system in the market to go from touring mode to riding mode. 9 out of 10.

Comfort:

The EVA dampening on the baseplate helps increase the comfort of the binding on long days, as well as reduce foot fatigue. The First Track ankle strap offers great comfort with no pressure points. 10 out of 10.

Adjustability:

Not having to deal with any kind of tool when adjusting straps or highback makes it easier when you’re out in the backcountry. Besides, the possibility of adjusting the pucks to center the binding on the board is a must in order to enjoy a smooth ride if you have very large, or very small, feet. 10 out of 10

Weight:

745g (single binding and medium size)

The Review

Nitro Vertical bindings

9.5 Score

The Vertical binding is a collaboration between Nitro Snowboards and splitboard bindings manufacturer Spark R&D. Having the best of both worlds, the Vertical is a true splitboard binding for those that spend most of their time skinning up mountains in search of the white gold. Using the award-winner Tesla T1 system from Spark R&D, and tweaking the straps and highback to meet the highest demands from Nitro, the Vertical is a fast, light, comfortable and responsive binding.
