Nitro Vertical 2022/23
The all-new Vertical splitboard sets the mark for lightweight, high-alpine splitboarding, combining the uphill performance of a touring ski with the floaty & fun ride of your favorite snowboard. The board’s narrow outline significantly improves tracking and traversing under challenging conditions. In addition, Nitro’s split-specific Hike Pods positioned centered below your bindings in hiking mode further increase your edge-grip on ice to let you traverse safely and confidently. For riders looking to push the limits of what is possible on a splitboard snowboard and continue to drive the progression of splitboarding.
Size tested: 158
At 2.68 kg for the 158 cm length, the Vertical is Nitro Snowboards’ take on a high-performance board. Thanks to the Koroyd ® Powerlite core, the Nitro Vertical is one of the lightest splitboards out there. A noticeable traditional camber, directional shape and a 253 mm waist width for 158 cm, result in a splitboard hungry for uphill vertical and intense ascents, which allows you to take your riding as far as you are capable of. The stiff flex and torsion provide great solidness and stability for such a light board, while demanding speed to be able to find stability. Still, the narrow waist means it turns easily, especially doing short turns or pressing on the tail. All of these are excellent skills in this type of board, but you can rule it out of your wishlist if your feet are too big. With its distinct camber – from nose to tail- the Vertical is one of the best options available if you’re into riding steeps or alpine lines in variable conditions. A splitboard that is clearly designed for expert riders looking for a light, high performing, reliable tool, and for weight weenies looking for a light set up to optimize their uphill performance without compromising the ride down.
