After having enjoyed the solid Korua Pencil for a whole season in our local resorts, we were pretty sure we would confirm the great performance of its splitboard version. The Pencil is one of the most surprising boards we have tested along these past years, considering its amazing versatility for a splitboard with a specific powder shape. Despite a stiff flex and torsion, it starts the turns with ease, and it feels agile and easy to maneuver as long as you give it enough speed, because in fact, that’s what the Pencil likes: wide and long turns at a considerable speed, be it on groomers or on wide powder loaded open fields. We advise you to set up a positive stance to ride on groomed slopes and experience some next level carving. The combination of the tapered directional shape plus a very generous nose, traditional camber and setback stance, turn the Pencil into a splitboard which floats like the best powder specific boards while offering solid and stable riding in variable snow conditions. A splitboard recommended for advanced and intermediate level riders looking for maximum floatability of deep pow days, solidness on variable snow and next level carving riding damned slopes on the way back to the parking lot.
