At barely 2,87 kg for the 162cm length, the Korua Escalator Plus well deserves the BEST LIGHTWEIGHT award. This splitboard has been designed to help us spare our energy during the ascent in long days in the backcountry, or in alpine missions when a long approach is followed by progressions on technical terrain, a scenario where every gram counts. The Escalator Plus is solid and stable despite the lightness, both pivoting on exposed terrain, riding on hard or mixed snow, as well as searching for big turns at full speed in open terrain. Korua’s Plus range offers greater quality finishes on topsheets, core and bases, on top of lightness, reactivity and a better performance overall. We dare saying that this is possibly one of the most solid, demanding boards we have tested over these past few years. Given the very stiff flex and torsion, it demands a certain speed to be taken fluently from edge to edge, but carving on groomers, it feels amazingly reactive and solid. The more aggressive the riding, the better the Escalator Plus performs. It is definitely a splitboard recommended for expert, explosive riders, looking to take their splitboarding as far as possible, the splitboard awarded the BEST BIG MOUNTAIN award de this season.
