Korua Dart 2022/23

The split version of our dear Dart is great for drawing fresh soul turns in soft snow be it powder, corn, or slush. Although soft snow is its preferred environment it performs surprisingly well in harder conditions. The wide frame, along with its setback and taper, offers maximum float and a relaxed riding experience in deep conditions. The extra width also reduces toe and heel drag, enabling low carves on hardpack snow. The swallowtail offers playfulness out the back, but still has the stability and torsion you need to hold an edge throughout turns. Two extra edges on the inside and a split-specific flex pattern offer perfect grip in climb-mode and when crossing icy passages. It features Union clips, nose and tail hooks, and the voile insert pattern (most widely used in the industry). The nose holes secure our U-Hook skin mounting system. The Dart Split is the perfect shape for riders who are looking to focus on their turning style in the backcountry, while driving out of turns with max speed.

Honestly, it is hard not to fall in love at first sight with a shape like the Korua Dart’s. The Dart is a classic S-like shaped powder splitboard, with a long nose, large 269cm waist width for the 156 length, set back stance and a swallow tail that flows smoothly on powder. All in all, the right board to have fun on great powder days thanks to the excellent float. On the other hand, like most boards on the Korua catalog, it also offers a next level turning experience. With stiff flex and torsion -although we did feel that the 156cm length was sweeter and easier to handle at low speed than the Pencil- it starts the turn very smoothly and goes swiftly from edge to edge, all of this without compromising the solidness Korua boards are well known for while pressing on the camber and hang on the edge. Offering excellent performance on dammed slopes -just like the Pencil, we advise a positive stance on both bindings for carving. Unlike the Pencil, it doesn’t seem as versatile on variable conditions, but on a good day, this splitboard invites you to press hard on the tail and hit the next slash explosively. It is definitely a very efficient board to ride powder, and one of the best de powder boards we have tried since we started testing splitboards. Recommended for riders looking for a splitboard with excellent floatability, both riding on open fields and deep forests, where riding fluently is crucial, and also a board to enjoy great carving on dammed slopes.
