A directional freeride shape blended with the board feel of a freestyle stick give the Stratos Split a remarkable energy on snow. The Stratos Split’s energetic board feel is thanks to a narrow sidecut, friendly flex and camber heavy directional rocker profile, while 10mm of taper and a 3D Contour Base 3.0 keep the Stratos Split super quick edge-to- edge. For added response, the Stratos Split is built with our premium Ultra core, Flax/Basalt Power stringers and an ECO- plastic topsheet. For added edge grip and epic torsional board lock, the Stratos Split features Inner/Outer Traction Tech 3.0, the Boltless Bridge, and Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0. Nimble and confident in any terrain, the Stratos Split makes you want to slice and dice your way down a run the most fun way possible.

The Jones Stratos is one of our favorite boards in this year’s test, that’s why it’s our new EDITOR’S CHOICE 2023. It is most certainly one of the most multi-skilled boards we have tried in all 10 years we’ve run the test, a splitboard bound to impress in all sorts of terrain and conditions. Most recommended for intermediate and advanced riders, the Stratos is an option to consider if you’re thinking about reducing your quiver to the minimum. Even though there are other directional shape options within Jones’ catalog, the Stratos brings extra versatility to your riding, mostly if you have a variety of freestyle tricks in your bag. Speaking of its overall behavior, the Stratos feels solid and   reactive, while it easily and predictably changes from edge to edge if you’re looking for fluidity thanks to a small sidecut and to the traditional camber. But, hey, we’re not gonna fool you: according to Jones the flex is 7, but it surely feels stiff and demands a powerful riding, with vivid and reactive flex and torsion and a brutal pop. On the other hand, the generous rocker provides all the float you’ll need on deep powder, even more so, the extra line of inserts enables extra setback for those days when floatability is a key. In all, it is one of the most polyvalent all-mountain splitboards available in the market this season.
