Nick Russell is probably the most active splitboarder nowadays. He spends most of his days getting lost in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, his backyard, when he’s not being immerged in many different video projects, like latest Cody Townsend’s The Fifty Project.

After many years along with Jones Snowboards, Nick gets out of his comfort zone looking for new challenging endeavors and joins WNDR Alpine.

WNDR Alpine was launched in 2019 out of a need for new materials and better products. Having received the only B Corp™ Certification ever awarded to a ski maker, and introducing new materials derived from microalgae, WNDR Alpine are replacing petroleum based products while simultaneously enhancing our skis performance. Besides, all of their facilities run on 100% renewable energy.

Matt Sterbenz, Founder & GM, WNDR Alpine: “When we created WNDR Alpine, we intentionally set out to build a brand that reaches to all corners of the backcountry sphere. Our bio based material applications is something that will never be exclusive to anyone, and certainly to no one discipline of backcountry travel. Beyond his snow craft skillset, Nick is a forward thinker, an innovator, and a boundary pusher who embodies the WNDR Alpine ethos like few others can. It’s our pleasure to officially welcome him to our team as a friend, collaborator, and backcountry partner.”

Alex “Frothpuppy” Andrews, Snow Product & Marketing Manager, WNDR Alpine : “Nick joining the WNDR Alpine family is a dream come true. Nick has the best intentions on and off his snowboard. He has carved his own path in snowboarding, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible while maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Nick is conscious about the products he uses and is constantly surfing the Earth in search of another adventure – an adventure in which he’ll need quality products with purposeful materials. It’s an honor to have Nick alongside myself and the team here at WNDR Alpine to develop those needs. Thank you Nick for believing in our mission for a better future doing the things we love. May the froth be with you!”

Nick Russell, Snow Athlete & Product Line Specialist, WNDR Alpine: “What an honor it is to join the Checkerspot and WNDR Alpine team and to embark on this new journey. Having the opportunity to combine my passions and beliefs with the products I help create is a dream come true. Working with cutting edge technology and new materials that have never been used in snowboards before is beyond exciting. I’m fired up to be joining my teammate Pep Fujas as well as Alex Andrews to work together on innovative products designed for the mountains. Sky’s the limit!”
