Autumn is here, and with its arrival comes the same feelings that I’ve been having for as long as I can remember: : Summer is finally left behind, the leaves are starting to change, days are getting shorter and colder, the first snow on the highest summits, the crisp air in the mountains…There’s a feeling of happiness, joy and a certain anxiety along with the arrival of the first signs of Autumn.
Behind we leave the most uncertain winter ever… at least until now. We live in a crazy world and who knows what will come next, but Covid-19 has been definitely something we will not forget, ever. Hopefully things will be more settled down for this upcoming season on this front, but let’s not forget another real threat, maybe more silent for those who don’t want to listen, which is Climate Change. Winters are definitely not the same as they used to be, so it’s our duty as mountain lovers to contribute to minimize the effects of global warming, in order to leave a planet full of life, and snow, to our kids.
Talking about the splitboarding world, there has been a big increase of people going to the backcountry, especially in those countries where the lifts were not running last season. We couldn’t be happier about that, and we hope that all of these newcomers stay with us and join the splitboarding family forever more. The market is now mature enough to provide boards, boots and bindings for every kind of splitboarder out there, no matter if you ride 1 or 100 days per season. Just make sure you respect the mountain and have enough knowledge before venturing into the backcountry, and it should be just having fun getting outdoors.
As autumn crawls its way in the Northern Hemisphere, and of course it all depends on where everybody is based, but all of us will be riding rather sooner than later, so make sure you’re fit enough, have your equipment ready, watch some splitboarding flicks to pump up the motivation, and get ready to enjoy the best feeling in the world: splitboarding.
Welcome to the 2021-22 season,we have loads of new content for you to come, just make sure you stay tuned to Splitboard Magazine, the only magazine dedicated entirely to splitboarding. Splitboarding forever!
