Upbattle Scotland Splitfest

Upbattle Scotland

Upbattle is the first UK’s splitboard specific weekend, and will take place the 15th and 16th of March in Scotland.

Whether you’ve never tried a splitboard, or spend every weekend in the backcountry, UpBattle is the event for you. Two days/nights in the heart of the Cairngorns with like-minded shredders with B&B accomodation.

UpBattle Race Rules and Route:

To make this fair we have made some rules by which all racers will have to comply with before entering. You will need to show proof of all listed items when entering on the day of the race. The race will be loosely timed, as we have not got a timing system. So for all you diehards please sort your own stopwatch.

Safety Kit and Backpack:
Transceiver
Shovel
Probe
Helmet
Collapsible poles
Water
Food
Skins
Fully charged mobile phone
Backpack capable of storing all these items.

Rules:
This is a Le Mans style start so you will have to run to your board by a dedicated route into a transition zone. All boards will be set up as a snowboard and your backpack will be packed with all your gear. Split your board, don your skins, fix your poles and start on up the marked route. At the Summit you’ll enter another transitional zone, you then can fix your skis back into a snowboard and pack your gear away safely. Only when this is done and your helmet is on, you present your number card to a marshal and get it ticked. Once ticked you can snowboard down the allocated run to the finish area.
We will need a contact number for on the day, next of kin and sign a medical declaration of fitness.
There will also be a transceiver check at the start line for all racers to make sure your transmitting a signal.
If you can’t carry on for any reason due to tiredness or equipment failure, you MUST phone in with your entry number, so we can make sure everyone is accounted for at the end of the race.

Route:
There will be a marked up route which will start at the bottom of the Day lodge piste 2,083ft(635meters) and follow up onto the M2 piste, past the Ptarmigan restaurant and up the summit path to the summit 4,084ft(1245meters). The route down will be on the side of the summit path, Ciste fairway piste, M2 piste and down the Day lodge piste, to a finish area.
The route will be subject to snow conditions and weather. This will be posted on the facebook page a few days prior to the event.
