SPLITBOARD PAINTERS

DURING THE HOT SUMMER NIGHT WHILE HAVING BEERS MY FRIEND STARTED TO TALK ABOUT SNOWBOARDING AND TRAVELING.

HOW CLICHÉ, SITTING BY THE TABLE WITH YOUR FRIENDS, IN YOUR HOME TOWN OR NO MATTER WHAT TOWN. YOU KNOW, LOT OF BIG TALKS AND LOT OF SMALL TALKS. IT WAS SUMMER SO WHY WERE WE TALKING ABOUT SNOWBOARDING? ANYWAYS. DAN SAID HE´LL BE GOING TO STATES AND THAT HE´S LOOKING FOR BUDDY WHO COULD TAKE A CAMERA AND JOIN HIM. THERE´S SO MANY THINGS TO TALK ABOUT BUT THERE´S MUCH MORE THINGS TO DO. HALF A YEAR LATER WE ARRIVED TO JACKSON HOLE. I AM SURE THAT MANY PEOPLE WROTE A LOT ABOUT THIS PLACE. NO WONDER! I´LL MAKE IT SHORT. I WISH I COULD GET BACK TO JACKSON HOLE ONE DAY SOON!

ME AND DAN WE USED TO SHRED OUR LOCAL TERRAIN PARK IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC TOGETHER AND THEN WE WOULD HIT THE BARS AND DRINK BEERS AND ON AND ON. THAT’S WHAT WE JUST DID IN COLORADO. WE SLEPT IN THE CAR ON THE PARKING LOTS. YOU KNOW THAT KIND OF BUDDY WE ALL HAVE. MY REVENGE FOR DAN FOR BRINGING ME UP HERE WAS A SPLITBOARD.

SPLITBOARD PAINTERS

EARLY IN THE MORNING WHEN I WOKE UP I SPOTTED THE PLACE WITH BINOCULARS. RATHER HILL THEN A TETON PASS KIND OF A MOUNTAIN. WHAT WAS CURIOUS ABOUT THAT HILL? IT WAS BURNED BY THE FIRE AND THE TREES WERE ALL NAKED. I´VE HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT RIDING THAT KIND OF STUFF FROM MY CANADIAN FRIENDS. I WANTED TO RIDE IT AND PHOTOGRAPH IT.

WE WERE UP ON THE PEAK. READY TO STRAP IN AND RIDE. IT FELT SO SMOOTH DRAWING THE LINES INTO THE OVERFROZEN AND WELL PACKED SNOW. ALL THE OPEN SPACE LOOKED LIKE CANVAS. WE WERE THE ONLY PAINTERS AROUND AND WE USED OUR SPLITBOARDS AS BRUSHES. I SCREAMED AND MADE ANOTHER TURN. I WANTED MORE. TAKE ME TO HEAVEN OR HELL. NO MATTER. THEN THE GROUND FLATTENED AND I CAME TO STOP. I STAYED IN SILENCE.  HERE´S DAN COMMING, BREAKING THE SILENCE, SCREAMING OUT LOUD. THERE´S NO TIME TO WASTE. WE´RE SPLITTING THE BOARDS, PLACING THE SKINS ON AND BREAKING THE WAY BACK UP. I FOUND MYSLEF ALMOST RUNNING UPHILL. SECOND  RUN WAS EVEN BETTER.

I KNEW WE WERE ON THE RIGHT PATH. THE PERFECT DRAWING WAS DONE. AND WE WERE THE PAINTERS.
