Rome Guide Boot

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Rome Guide boot: revamped for daily lift hits and walkabout adventures. Featuring Rome’s new GripLight outsole powered by Vibram to take on the harshest terrain with ease, the Guide is designed for riders who blaze their own paths, shred the standard lines and know the unknown lines. With a flex pattern designed to get you up and down the steepest slopes you can find, the full leather exterior keeps this boot looking good and charging. Set the boot pack, drop the cliff, rip the corduroy and repeat.

WHAT WE LIKED ABOUT THEM:

  • Its medium-to-stiff flex (7 out of 10) combined with the 2 part articulation for enhanced skinning and longer stride.
  • The GripLight outsole helps you when skinning without losing the snowboarding feel. It also worked great when hiking in sketchy terrain.
  • Full-grain leather and reinforced heel and toe box for maximum durability
  • Redesigned and slimmer overall size than previous years.
  • Super comfortable Ultra F.I.T. liner, thanks to the D3O material in the outsole and a superior heel retention.

WHAT WE LIKED THE LEAST ABOUT THEM:

  • The lack of a welt for semi-automatic crampons.
  • It takes a bit of time to remove the liner and put it back inside.

WHAT ARE THEY USEFUL FOR

The Rome Guide is a boot that satisfies a vast majority of riders, from the weekend warrior looking to ride the lines they’ve been dreaming of all week to the pro rider that rides all season long. As a top of the line boot, the fit is incredibly comfortable, which is great for long splitboarding missions. A great combination of flex, construction of the boot and sitffness of the sole will make you enjoy a smooth uphill and a superior board feel.

The traditional laces will ensure that you get the right tightness and if they break you’ll be able to find replacements no matter where in the world you are.

Overall a really comfortable and durable boot, made to withstand anything from a quick splitboard mission to multi-day trips in the backcountry.
