My name is Justin Ibarra and I am the founder of CSG. Colorado raised, the seed of the outdoors was planted at a very young age. In my early 20s I began my pursuits of a career in the outdoors by gaining experience in the guiding world as a river guide, a guide trainer, and eventually becoming an operations manager of a local outfitter. Since first realizing that it was a possibility for me to be able to become a guide on my snowboard I had always wanted to develop a snowboard specific outfitter that offered guided tours and educational courses in Colorado. Over a decade passed as I guided on rivers and snow for local outfitters until I realized it was time to pull the trigger. The next thing to do was to see what options I had and how this would be feasible. I had been continually following the work of fellow split guides and of those especially Eric Layton. Eric has been a huge help and has a vast amount of experience in guiding and one who shares a similar passion and mindset. Eric is one of the first guides to become fully certified by AMGA as a Splitboard Guide and is owner of Splitboard Guides International. A big role-model of mine I eventually got into contact with him to help me formulate CSG. Eric is now the Technical Director for CSG and we are extremely excited to have him as part of the team!
The next step in the process, permitting. Living and operating in Summit County has a huge benefit as there is access to excellent backcountry terrain and a huge potential for clients as there is 7 ski resorts within a 30 mile radius. Through a few connections I was eventually able to link up with Jay Irwin and Abe Pacharz who locally ran CBST Adventures/Colorado Adventure Guides. After a few meetings and discussions we had eventually finalized the decision and need to open up a new division of CBST Adventures, Colorado Snowboard Guides. Colorado’s first snowboard specific outfitter. When dreams come true! Over the course of the summer the website and curriculums were published with stoke and over the past couple of months we have been working on spreading the word. Our goal is to educate and to bring people into the backcountry to experience what we are so passionate about. To enjoy the beauty and peace of the mountains. To experience life beyond the resort! We offer guided day and overnight tours, intro and advanced splitboarding courses, avalanche courses, and more.
