Mario’s history with snowboarding goes back almost two decades, signing to Forum’s Young Blood team during the brand’s heyday, alongside riders such as Alek Oestreng, Cam Pierce and Austin Sweetin, with tenures at Slash, Völkl and YES since. Although Swiss born and bred, Mario now resides in Innsbruck, Austria, less than two hours from Amplid’s HQ.
When he’s not goofing around at Nordkette with the TFA and Sane crews, Mario can be found enjoying the solitude of the backcountry, probably nailing the smoothest BS5 you’ve ever seen into a bottomless landing, or skinning into new zones and poaching unridden lines for his next video part. Mario’s eye for turning the backcountry into a snow park is what initially put Mario on Amplid’s radar. Amplid’s Team Manager, Rich Ewbank, said:
“I’ve been a fan of Mario’s snowboarding for many years. His playful approach to big-mountain freeriding and his affinity for high performance equipment which meets his demands, really captures what Amplid is about.”
Mario’s quiver for the winter ahead includes Amplid’s flagship snowboards the UNW8 and the Milligram Split. From time-to-time you might also catch Mario with a prototype beneath his feet, because Mario’s keen to contribute towards the snowboards he’s riding.
